Hey there. I’m Christina Kettler – CK for short – and I like to see cool stuff. And that is the simplest reason why I became a travel junkie.
I wasn’t always looking for new adventures. Growing up in Michigan, I used to think a trip to Florida once a year was livin’ the life. It wasn’t until I turned 30 and started traveling to so many places that I realized how small our minds can be if we don’t let other ideas in and challenge our own way of thinking. Travel helps make our hearts and minds grow bigger.
I now have a solid decade of travel under my belt and the two things I’m most proud of are how many passport stamps I have and my marriage to my amazing husband and travel buddy, Daniel. With those two, I feel like I can conquer anything.
I graduated from the University of Florida with my journalism degree and a minor in history back in 2001. So researching and writing is my thing. I freelanced for a while but eventually took a corporate job running an in-house creative and communications team. Over time and a lot of hard work, I earned a great salary and six weeks of vacation a year. Although that job afforded me many opportunities to travel, I decided after 13 years it was time to get back to my writing roots. And so, in January 2016, I said goodbye to the 9 to 5 world with a steady paycheck and hello to the world of contract work and freedom.
No travel bug vaccination for me, please
Some people don’t want to catch the travel bug but trust me; it’s the best bite you’ll ever get. Having made the transition from vacationer to traveler myself, I know it can be hard to try something out of your comfort zone. But the reward is so great that I want to inspire people to challenge themselves to make their world bigger. That’s why I started my travel blog.
I’m writing for the vacationer transitioning into a traveler who needs inspiration and tips. I also write for the homebodies who live vicariously through my adventures.- CK
Travel takes guts, not buts
I want everyone to have the guts to travel. And hopefully my travel blog will motivate people to get out and create memorable experiences abroad. I know some people need a nudge. There are a lot of “buts” when people start to talk themselves out of a new adventure. “But what about….” or “But it’s too….” and “But I can’t because…”
I’m here to help by inspiring you to ditch your usual week-long vacations visiting touristy spots and opt for a bigger world filled with authentic and more memorable experiences.
And as for those people who consider travel a spectator sport, I’ll provide you with a passport abroad via my experiences. And who knows, maybe – just maybe – I’ll convince you to try something new.
